Causes of Foot Pain
What is causing your foot and ankle pain? And how to help?
Do you have foot pain? There are many causes of foot pain. The most common complaints of the foot and ankle have to do with biomechanics of the many joints of the foot and ankle, as well as overuse. The foot and ankle is very mobile and must provide shock absorption, balance and propulsion all within fractions of a second while walking and running.
These actions take place through complex interactions of not only the foot but the entire lower extremity, including the knee, hip and pelvis. Dysfunction at the foot can result in problems up the kinetic chain throughout the body. It is important to have proper motion of the foot and ankle joint to allow the necessary function of the ankle and leg.

If you do not have proper range of motion of the ankle, then the body will go find it somewhere else. The knee is next in line, and often cannot properly compensate which leads to knee pain (that may be caused by ankle problems). There are many causes of foot pain, so it is important to know what is causing yours so that treatment can be specific and effective.
